My 30 Point Comeback: Life, Sarcoidosis, and Rediscovering Balance
Hey there, friends! Long time, no blog. If my website had tumbleweeds, they’d be blowing across the homepage right now. But here I am, brushing off the dust, because life has been a lot—and honestly, I missed you all.
First things first, yes, my blog is still called My 30 Point Life. I know what you’re thinking: “Kelly, aren’t you kinda over Weight Watchers?” And you’re right—I am. But this name? It’s a part of me, like my favorite pair of stretchy jeans or my undying love for coffee. So, it stays. But, spoiler alert, I’m not following Weight Watchers anymore.
Here’s why: After COVID, they shut down most of the meeting locations. And let me tell you, those meetings were my lifeline. They were where I found support, laughter, and an awkwardly heartfelt group clap every time I lost 0.2 pounds.
Without that community, the program just didn’t click for me anymore. That being said, I did reach my goal weight with them—losing sixty pounds—and I’ve managed to keep most of it off. Right now, I’m a little above my goal weight, but hey, life happens. I’m working on it, one low-carb recipe at a time.
Speaking of life happening, let me fill you in on the wild ride I’ve been on. Drumroll, please… I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis. (Google it, I’ll wait.) It’s an inflammatory disease that came out of nowhere, and the treatment—hello, prednisone—decided to throw me another curveball.
Turns out, prednisone and I are not friends. It left me with a bonus prize: diabetes. It’s like the world’s worst gift-with-purchase situation.
So now, here I am, living the low-carb life. And let me tell you, for someone who used to worship bread like it was a religion, it’s been an adjustment. I’ve always believed that no food group should be eliminated (except liver—I’m sorry, but that’s just a no). But now I’ve learned that managing my sugar and carb intake isn’t about deprivation; it’s about balance. Turns out, you can have your carbs… just in moderation. Who knew? (Okay, probably everyone but me.)
But here’s the good news: I’m back. I’m here to share my journey, the ups and downs, and maybe even a few low-carb recipes that don’t taste like cardboard.
I’ll talk about what’s working for me and, of course, what’s not. And most importantly, I want this to be a two-way street. I need your support, too. Let’s inspire each other to live a healthier lifestyle—whatever that looks like for us individually.
If you’ve been struggling, trying new things, or just making it through the day without eating an entire cake (or with eating an entire cake—no judgment), I’d love to hear about it. Drop a comment, send me a message, or just silently nod along while you read this. We’re in this together, and I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes us.
So, let’s do this—breadless sandwiches, sarcastic humor, and all. My 30 Point Life might not look the same as it did when I started, but you know what? Neither do I. And that’s okay.
Thanks for sticking around. You’re the best, and I mean that more than I mean it when I say, “I’ll just have one chip.”
See you soon (promise this time).
