Navigating Stress: My Facebook Account Struggle and Finding Compassion for Yourself

Recently, I’ve been grappling with an incredibly stressful situation: my Facebook account was disabled because a rogue Instagram account, which I don’t own, violated their terms of service. There is a growing number of people who have this problem, and Facebook doesn’t have a way to deal with it.

You see they send you to facebook.com/hacked, but since your account is disabled you can’t report it. So off to Instagram you go which does absolutely no good because the account that violated their terms doesn’t belong to you – a security problem with meta allows these accounts to hook to your facebook.

Despite being Meta verified, I’ve found myself in an endless loop—Facebook asked me to request an appeal, but since I don’t own the rogue account, I can’t. Even though you are told being Meta verified will protect your identity, it has done nothing with mine. When I contact them through an old email (because I can’t open a support ticket on a disabled account) I get the same canned message about they can’t do anything and go to the hacked website. This “contact to a real person” seems to be a falsehood also. Buyer beware with Meta verified.

To make matters worse, I can’t even submit more support tickets for a while, and it’s impossible to reach a human for help. This ordeal has impacted every aspect of my life, especially my business, which relies heavily on Facebook’s event function. Currently, I have three events running that I cannot access.

The severity of this situation has been overwhelming. It’s made me realize how helpless we can feel when things spiral out of control, but it’s also taught me the importance of self-compassion.

During times like these, it’s crucial to remember that it’s okay to forgive ourselves. We might have been raised to see getting off track as a personal failing, but it’s simply being human. Especially when faced with unexpected stress, it’s important to show ourselves compassion.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about appearances for me; it’s a necessity due to my health issues. No one should ever feel bad about what they eat. Focusing on what we can control, practicing stress-relief techniques, maintaining routines, and seeking support can help us manage the storm.

To anyone else dealing with similar tech issues or other stressors: know that you’re not alone. And above all, be kind to yourself.

That being said, anyone work at Facebook? lol

Like my blog?  My first three novels have been released!  It’s set in a small, holiday obsessed town, and if you love Hallmark movies you’ll love this book series!

The first book in the series is called Going Home. Becca, our heroine,  returns home after a 25 year absence to reclaim a sentimental family heirloom.  She hopes to go in and out unnoticed, especially by the man she’s loved since she was eight years old.
